The Turkey hit by a Minivan

I have a story to tell...My husband and his friend Zach were driving behind a minivan that hit a wild turkey. They got the great idea that it would be cool to pick up the turkey and butcher it so that we could have it for dinner. They were working at the time so they had to wait till their day was done. Later that night they butchered the turkey. Robert, my husband, says that it was awful but they got it done and put it in the fridge. When Robert got home from butchering this turkey he looked like hell. His face was pale and his eyes were red - he said that he could not get the smell out of his nose. Not good. Anyways, Zach's wife Tiffany and I (yes, 2 Tiffany's) wanted to be good sports and support their quest to have road kill for dinner. So they came over that weekend and we fried a turkey killed by a minivan. They wouldn't let us have any part of it - they wanted to take all the credit we thought. I didn't tell them but I had back-up dinner in the oven just in case the turkey didn't turn out. Well they bring this turkey in the house and WOW, it is beautiful! Tiffany and I were so impressed!!! We sat down to eat it and it was delicious! Here I am the most proud wife ever - my man butchered and prepped and fried road kill AND I ate it! The night was great and as Tiffany and Zach and their adorable kids got ready to leave Robert and Zach said they needed to tell us something. Turns out that you have to butcher meat within an hour after killing it or else it goes bad. SO the turkey killed by the minivan was not what we ate - we ate the turkey that the company gave them for Christmas. Waaaa, waaaaa waaaaaaa

What a wonderful day Christmas was! Jesus Marcos got lots of fun gifts and we really enjoyed watching him get so excited opening them. He was so excited about his gifts that he didn't eat all day. We couldn't tear him away from his tractors (he got 2 remote control tractors, one noisy tractor and one BIG tractor - THANKS AUNT SHAN - that he can ride on). One of my favorite parts of Christmas day was when Robert gave me my gift. It was wrapped in newspaper and glued shut!!! He couldn't find tape. It was the best wrapping job ever. :)

Christmas morning, JM wakes up and walks past the Christmas tree. The big tractor catches his eye and the look on his face said "Wait a minute, this stuff wasn't here when I went to bed last night!?!?!" He puts that hard hat on everytime he gets on his tractor. He also totes all of his tractors into his room when he takes a nap or goes to bed and then he brings them all back out when he wakes up. He is his Daddy's dream boy.

The only reason that JM let Loie stay on the tractor was because she was pushing on the levers and it was making all sorts of cool noises.

Loie is loving the little bear blanket that Aunt Dottye sent her. Aunt Dottye's "Crafty Ladies" group at church made her this little precious bear.

He gets it now. The gift is not the paper but what it is wrapped around. To all of you first time moms - don't buy any Christmas presents the first 2 Christmases. All you have to do is put tissue paper in a bag and they will play with that for as long as you let them. ;)

If you want to read 2 books consecutively you can put one on your head so it's ready and within reach when you want it. Brilliant my little genius!!!

Our trip to So Cal...

A special and big thanks to Auntie Janine and Zander for giving up their room and letting us completely take over their house! WE LOVE YOU!!!

We got a lot done in the very short time that we were in So Cal. First, we went to lunch with Gammi - had a blast!!!

Papi loves his little Loie! We had a great time with Papi and lots of friends at dinner.

My new little nephew, Beau, is so precious that he almost made me cry! Its crazy that Loie was this small only 6 months ago! **Go check out some great pics of Archer and Jesus Marcos at the C'deBaca blog!

Next we went to the Aquarium in Long Beach. Jesus Marcos totally flipped out when he saw Dori in the first tank. He has been obsessed with Finding Nemo and now he can really say that he found him!

This pic is classic. Jesus Marcos is holding Nemo, Loie is holding a starfish and Zander is holding a piece of pizza left over from the day before! Zander also has a turtle on his tray!

This was one of my favorite tanks. My brother, Coop, got stung by a baby jellyfish in Baja and said it hurt like crazy. Its a great story - ask him about it if you know him. :) I can't even imagine being in this tank.

I'm thankful for Thanksgiving!

What a great day Thanksgiving was. All of our parents are out of town so the Moncada cousins got together to celebrate Thanksgiving. There were 17 of us - 9 adults - 4 tweens - 2 preschoolers and 2 two year olds!!! We had so much fun, way too much great food, and we made great memories. Thanks to Robert and Isabel especially for doing all of the chores on the list and helping things to run smooth. Yeah!!!
ps. I took pictures of the food but they didn't do it any justice. Oh well. :)

This is the greatest day of my life!!! It snowed at my house today! It was raining hard all night long and then all of the sudden this morning the rain sound stopped so we opened the curtains and looked out the window and saw that it was snowing! Mom made a yummy breakfast and then she put 4 layers of clothes on me and I went out to play! Check it out!!!

I can't believe it!!!

Actually, its more like Where Haven't We Been?!?!?! Well, lets start with the Moncada Christmas and we can work all the way through our trips all around the country.

We are on our way to Southern Cali. Muffin isn't as excited as we are.

We had a wonderful time with my cousin Archer and Aunt Kelly and Uncle Coop.

My cousin and I have a lot in common...We LOVE carbs!!!

This is my new cousin Alexander!!! He is a lot of fun but he still has a lot to learn...No worries, I will teach him all I know. (How is it that Mom can show all her teeth but not her eyes???)

This is Mommies best friend Janine. She is Alexander's Mom. Notice the outfits...You know your friend is the best if she wears the same outfit as you but in a different color!

We are now on our way to Mexico with my favorite toy in hand!!!

I sleep a lot better when Tia Isabel is by my side.

We are getting ready to leave Mexico now. Tita & Tito bought me this hat to remind me of all the fun we had! I wanted it so I can look just like Tito!!!

Here we are at the biggest and first Bass Pro Fishing store in Springfield, Missouri! There are fishies and turtles in this pond!!!

I was exhausted after all of our adventures at Bass Pro Fishing store and I fell asleep in the car. I was still asleep when we got to the Western store so I took a nap on the stuffed animals.

They wanted to take a nap with me.

Here we are at the Chrome Shop Maffia's headquarters in Joplin, Missouri. They used to do the Trick My Truck show.

These are the greatest ladies you will ever meet!!! I miss you Aunt Shan & Aunt Lavonne!!! They live all the way over in Omaha, Nebraska!

They took us up to see Council Bluffs which overlooks Omaha. This is where Lewis and Clark had a famous meeting with Indians about important White Man/Indian stuff.

Frozen water that is! Mommy and Daddy are dancing they are having so much fun!

The greatest Aunties took us to Cabela's Outdoor Gear store. Unfortunately they don't let you drive the quads around the store.

Aunt Shan tried to feed me to a Polar Bear!

Then she and Aunt Lavonne tried to hijack a hunters golf cart!!! All this outdoors stuff turns them into two CRAZY ladies!

After the winter storm there was lots of fun snow to play in!!!

After Nebraska we went to see Uncle Robert and Aunt Sue in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Aunt Sue showed me how to play the piano and then she let me try it all by myself.

I am better at Peek-A-Boo than piano but I have had a lot more practice with the first.

Now we are with Papa Elmo in New Mexico! I am exhausted after all of this traveling and he is exhausted after hearing about all of our adventures!

Our last trip before heading back to California is with Aunt Dottye and Uncle Ken. They sure are a lot of fun!

Changuito means little monkey in Spanish (for all of the non-spanish speakers it sounds like chongito). I am always a changuito so Mom decided to make me look like one for Halloween.

This is my girlfriend Sierra. She is a changuita...a muy bonita changuita! We are looking at really scary boys with scary costumes on. They made us cry.

This was my dinner at Ironstone Vineyards. They threw a party for all of the people that helped with the summer concerts. It was the best dinner of my life!!!!

I am exploring Lake Alpine. I discovered that grass isn't all that bad and I don't really need to stay on Mom and Dad's blanket.

My First Hair Cut!!!

It is a Moncada Family tradition to shave their child's head after they turn 1 year old. So, here we are shaving my head! I have to say that I am one attractive little guy, hair or no hair!

The first cut. They started with scissors.

Next they moved on to clippers. I don't think that I like this.

The book distraction wasn't going to work for the razor so I got to get in the sink! I am lovin' this part!!!

Fireworks for ME!!!!

It was my birthday last week and there were festivities all over the place to celebrate my special day. Uncle Coop, Aunt Kelly & Cousin Archer, my other Aunt Kelley (Mom's cousin), Papi and lots of other people came to celebrate with us. Even Ironstone had a big event to celebrate my birthday!!! They got my birthday wrong though because they called it a "4th of July" celebration instead of a "3rd of July" celebration. Some people in Tito & Tita's neighborhood even had a special party for me - why does everyone think that I was born on the 4th of July?!?!? Oh well, all of the cool fireworks more than made up for their mistakes.

Tito put me and Cous' Archer in the wagon. Archer and I were really excited!

This is the awesome fireworks display that some of Tita & Tito's neighbors put on for me. You can see why I can forgive them for getting the date mixed up.

I have to be honest and say that Archer and I were a little freaked out at first with the fireworks but we were reassured that they were safe (except for the ones that Daddy was lighting). Archer loved them - he was running around and having fun. I can't wait till I can run!!!

I fell asleep before it was all over. All of this attention can wear a kid out. Keep it coming though!!!

Maybe he DIDN'T want to leave. Yep, that sounds more like it. It was a great party and I can't wait till the next 3rd of July celebration!!!

WOW! I can't believe it! I am ONE year old!
Time has gone by so fast. Mom is crying saying that she wants me to stop growing & stay little and Dad is saying that everyday is closer to the day that I get to drive trucks with him. But I'm just chillin - building up the nerve to start walking. Well, here are some pictures to see how I have become more and more handsome with each passing month.

Aunt Shan and Aunt Lavonne visited me last month. Papi Mark was here too!!! We had such a good time. I can't wait to see them again!

We celebrated Daddy's birthday while they were here. Look at the cake Mom made. She got the recipe from Aunt Betsy. Mom should have know better cause she is no Aunt Betsy when it comes to the kitchen. I hope that my birthday cake doesn't look like that.

Aunt Betsy and me. Did you know that these green things that everyone calls limes have a sour center??? Why doesn't anyone tell me these things? I am new here - I didn't know!

Papi Mark is so silly! I just love him!!!

OH!!! I forgot to tell you! We bought a new truck! Now Daddy has 2 BIG trucks. We had a big party and asked Father Alex to come over and ask God to bless all of our trucks.

I am such a happy guy that even my bite marks on Mommy are a happy face!!!

My friend JT came over to play and Mom took us for a walk. This is not a 2-kid kind of stroller but anything is possible when you put your mind to it. Or when you just want to get out of the house.

After the walk I looked back and my buddy was asleep!

Now all of my visitors are gone! I miss them...Come back!!!

It's Frog Jump Time!!!

You guys really missed a lot of fun stuff this year at Frog Jump!
SO MUCH FUN!!!
Here are the highlights of my first year at the fair...

Take a good look at the blur in the upper middle part of the picture. That is the frog that is JUMPING off of Daddy's hand because I just poked it in the head. MY FIRST FROG JUMP!!!

This is Becky. We sponsored her in the Miss Calaveras Pageant. She is a really cute girl but when we heard that she was going to make her dress out of duct tape (yes you heard me right) we were a little concerned. BUT look at it! It was by far the coolest dress in the pageant. YEAH BECKY!!!

The next day we went and visited the animals. I don't know how you feel about bunnies but they creeped me out BIG TIME!

Next were the goats. This one looks like it is eating my foot but like
all of the other goats there it was trying to eat my stroller.

This goat wasn't so interested once the stroller was gone.

This camera friendly goat looks like a character from those old Lord of the Rings movies. Mom and Dad get mad when I say that those are old movies.

Hey Everybody!!!!
Wow, a lot has been going on this last month.
I've got lots of fun stuff to show you!

I am getting pretty good at this "peek~a~boo" thing.
It really cracks me up when my mom says it. She is one silly lady!

So what if I can make a duck towel look good - I WAS COLD!!!
Get me dressed and then take all the pictures that you want.

There were two foxes in the lot behind our house!

We went to the air show in San Andreas. Mom and Dad said that I was going to fly this thing but I was tricked and now I am mad.

Mom got to fly in a plane and she took this picture as they were coming in for a landing. Apparently I feel asleep right before she took off and I missed the whole thing. Some ladies were flirting with me when Daddy took off and I missed his flight too.

The next day we were pretty tired and so we took a nap together.

Mom wanted me to let everyone know that she wanted to give you time to really take in our holiday trip. Someone (we don't want to mention any names Aunt Kelly) said that she hates it when Mom puts 4-5 different posts up all at the same time. So that is why these pictures from early January are just now making it onto our blog. FYI the pictures that Mom puts up after this post will have happened a few weeks before she puts them up and this will probably be the case for everything in the future. :) Sorry Mom, I had to keep it real.

This was my first trip to New Mexico! We went to Santa Fe and Los Alamos (where Mom was born) and we went to visit Aunt Dottye! I got to meet my Great Grandpa Elmo. He lives in Los Alamos and he is very funny.

Not only am I the cutest kid in the USA, I am also the cutest kid in Mexico!!! We went to General Teran (an hour southeast of Monterrey, MX). That is where Tita Olga grew up and where a lot of her and Tito Robert's family is from and some still live there. Mom ate LOTS of tacos and she said that I might be able to try them the next time we go. Here are our Christmas pictures.

Hey everyone! I got baptized last Sunday! Papi and my godfather, Uncle Grant came up and so did Tia Loli, Tio JJ & Tia Alicia AND all their kids. My godmother, Tia Isabel (baller!) gave me my outfit and I must say that I looked pretty good as you can see. Father Alex performed the ceremony and after the service he held me. He said that I am the first baby that he has ever held and I have to say that it is true. He was funny. Look at his face in the pictures. He was freaking out!!! I like him a lot even if he doesn't know how to hold me. He knows how to pray and that is much more important! Tita took some great pictures of the party at our house so I will have mom put those on here when she gets them. Hopefully she can get them before we go to Mexico!!!

Mom and I went to Southern California for a sad occasion - My Great Grandpa passed away. I am sad that I never got to meet him but my mom said that he was a very great man and that I will meet him in heaven.
It was also a great time because I had a lot of "Firsts". I got to meet my Aunt Susie & Uncle Robert, Aunt Kelley, Uncle Richard, Aunt Leigh Ann AND Mama Jean for the first time. That was great! They were lots of fun. I also got to go on my first plane flight! The flight attendants LOVED me! I can't wait to go again!

Me and my cous Archer played a lot on this trip. He is older than me by 4 whole months! BUT I am growing fast and I think that I am almost as tall as he is. Mom and Auntie Kelly gave us a bath and I still had to stay in my tub because I can't sit up yet but as you can see I can really get my legs up high! Tita and Tito had a great party this weekend to celebrate Mexican Independence Day. There were a lot of people there and everyone had fun. Everyone except for me ate really good food (I ate my usual meal which is just fine with me) and they danced and sang lots of songs (the singing didn't sound so good but everyone looked like they were having fun). I didn't see Mom or Dad until it was my feeding time. The Ladies LOVE me!!! What can I say? I come from good looking families!

This is my BEEEESSSSTTTT friend in the whole world! Her name is Muffin. When Daddy and Mommy are busy Muffin and I like to hang out. We usually talk about how selfish they are with their food and how they don't share any of it with us. This is a very sensitive issue with Muffin. If she starts to get upset then we talk about chasing cats. I haven't tried it yet but Muffin says that it is a lot of fun.

This is a beautiful lake that is up the hill from here. Mom & Dad took me here for my first lake trip and to get away from the heat. We had a great time. I slept the whole way there and the whole way back! It was really pretty and we all had a great time - even Muffin. She was flirting with all of the other dogs there. She needs to get out more.

WOW, no one ever told me that baths would be sooooo much fun! My friends have said that they didn't like baths at first but I LOVED mine! I can't wait for the next one. I had to wait a while because my umbilical cord didn't fall off till Friday. The doctor said that Mom was being too careful and that she needed to really attack it with the rubbing alcohol. She's learning.

Well everyone I am happy to report that I am growing. Mom took me to the doctor on Monday and he says that I now weigh 9 lbs 3 ozs and that I am 22 inches long!!! WoooHooo!!! I think that I am going to be tall like my Uncle Coop! As you can see I sleep very well and my dreams are lots of fun. I smile a lot when I sleep. Tita Olga says that I am playing with angels in my dreams and thats why I smile. Other people who are not so smart say that I am passing gas. Little do they know. :)
